The New York Times Magazineは、年間グレートパフォーマンス賞に12人を選出。

日本からは俳優の西島秀俊さんが受賞。2021年に公開された映画「ドライブ・マイ・カー」（原作：村上春樹、脚本：濱口竜介、大江崇充、音楽：石橋英子）で主人公 家福悠介役を演じた。本作は、本年度カンヌ国際映画祭で脚本賞を受賞。さらに、国際映画批評家連盟賞、AFCAE賞、エキュメニカル審査員賞の独立賞など4冠取得を果たし話題に。

IINO ORODUCTIONSは、The New York Magazineに掲載される西島さんのポートレート撮影をリモートでサポート。NYにいるフォトグラファーRuben Afanadorと東京のスタジオにいる西島さんの撮影を実現しました。

Rubenからの画面越しの指示の元、東京のスタジオでセッティングを開始。NYは夜、東京は朝という時差を超えて、撮影がスタート。Rubenのポージング指示を西島さんが自由に表現し、NY側でシャッターが押される。コロナ禍で移動が制限される中、リモートを感じさせない各々のパフォーマンスが発揮されました。

The New York Times Magazine has announced 12 people for its annual Great Performers Awards.

From Japan, the award goes to actor Hidetoshi Nishijima for his role as the protagonist Yusuke Iefuku in the film “Drive My Car”, released in 2021 (original story by Haruki Murakami, screenplay by Ryusuke Hamaguchi and Takamitsu Ohe, music by Eiko Ishibashi). The film won the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes International Film Festival this year. The film also won four awards, including the FIPRESCI Prize, the AFCAE Prize and the Independent Prize of the Ecumenical Jury

IINO ORODUCTIONS remotely supported Mr. Nishijima’s portrait shoot for The New York Magazine, bringing together photographer Ruben Afanador in New York with Mr. Nishijima in Tokyo studio.

With Ruben’s instructions through the screen, we set up in a studio in Tokyo, and despite the time difference between New York at night and Tokyo in the morning, we started shooting. While the travel restrictions due to the COVID-19, each member of the team was able to give a performance that did not feel remote.
